Services

  • Individual Counseling

Individual counseling, or therapy, is confidential one-on-one work with a counselor that is focused on helping you identify, process, cope with, and heal from personal and mental health struggles. Sometimes these struggles can feel painful, confusing, or embarrassing, and individual work is a safe place to process through them. Athletes of all stages, including high school, college, professional, recreational, injured, and retired, may benefit from intentionally crafted and personally focused one-on-one work.

  • Marriage/Relationship Counseling

Relationships can be complex, whether you are married, engaged, dating, or single and trying to navigate the realm of relationships, and often an athletic career can add to the complexity. Marriage/Relationship Counseling is focused on helping you and your loved ones navigate the demands, pressures, and dynamics of an athletic career and sport culture. This type of therapy usually includes both partners and is focused on helping you address conflict, heal from relational wounds, improve communication, and strengthen your relationship.

  • Collegiate Student-Athlete Counseling

The life of a collegiate student-athlete is anything but boring. This time period in one’s life and career is often marked by excitement, passion for sport, and a world of new opportunities. However, this phase can also be difficult as you may be struggling through the transition into college, navigating relationships with new coaches, teammates, and friends, trying to balance school and sport demands, and possibly experiencing mental health concerns for the first time. Whether you are a freshman trying to find your place, a redshirt athlete learning your temporary role, a sophomore or junior settling in, a transfer starting from scratch, or a senior facing graduation and/or retirement, individual counseling may provide you the time and space to process this unique phase of life.

  • College Recruiting Counseling

There are few experiences more emotional than the college recruiting process. During this time, high school athletes are asked to make major decisions about their life and career, while also trying to predict what will happen with coaches and programs they are communicating with. This phase can produce intense joy and excitement as dreams come true, conflict with family as emotions run high, or pain and grief as recruiting doors close. College recruiting counseling is aimed at helping high school athletes and their families sort through the emotions that accompany this process and identify core values that may assist the high school athlete in making these important decisions. Sessions may be individual, or include important members of an athlete’s family or support system, depending on the goals and needs of the client.

  • Team Workshops

Victory offers team workshops that are tailored to the unique needs of your team. These needs may include developing more effective communication patterns, setting and reaching goals and expectations, handling conflict within a team, identifying team values, developing team chemistry, learning how to motivate and encourage unique personality types, or addressing mid-season or off-season burn out. Workshops may also include education around mental health topics like depression, anxiety, eating disorders, anger, managing intense emotions, substance use, and grief. Workshops can be completed off site at a location that accommodates both the needs of your team and goals of the workshop. If you are a coach or athletic personnel, let’s work together to create a personalized, relevant workshop that has a lasting impact on your team.

  • Free 15 Minute Phone Consultation

Counseling can feel intimidating and initiating the first step takes courage. That’s why Victory offers free 15-minute phone consultations where we can get to know each other a bit more before committing to a full session. During this call, the goal is to get to know you a little better and allow you space to ask questions about Victory and the counseling process. There is no pressure to move forward after the call, the goal is simply to help you feel more comfortable and informed about your options.

I am an out-of-network provider and do not directly bill insurance for treatment. Some benefits of paying privately include more privacy and more control in our work together. However, I’ve found that many insurance companies will cover my services as an out-of-network provider. Depending on your insurance coverage, I can provide a “super bill” that you could submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. A super bill is a detailed record of payment with special codes for what kind of service was provided along with my license number. I recommend calling the number on your insurance card to inquire about “out-of-network” therapy benefits and learning how to submit an out-of-network reimbursement. Though reimbursement is not always guaranteed, many people have positive experiences utilizing super bills. If you’re hoping to find an in-network provider, Good Therapy or Psychology Today are helpful directories. I am also able to accept HSA cards.
